Oliver Laurence North is a retired US Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel. He collaborated with another writer to create the script for the episode entitled Martial Eagle on The Americans. North was a National Security Council staff member during the Iran–Contra affair, a political scandal of the late 1980s. North was specifically involved in the US government's funding of the Contra rebel groups in Nicaragua.
